M830 Motherboard: Restore CMOS / BIOS on OmniTurn G4 CNC

M830 motherboards shipped from 2011 until 2016
If the motherboard battery should fail, the BIOS settings which are stored in CMOS memory will have to be reset to insure proper operation.

To Replace the Motherboard Battery

The Battery is a CR2032 coin-type cell, which is available anywhere batteries are sold.

Before replacing the battery, turn off the CNC control, and shut down the OmniTurn with the disconnect Image of disconnect
Located on the left side of the GT75 at the spindle drive cabinet.

It is possible to replace the battery by taking the blue cover off the control and reaching in though the one of the portholesCMOS Battery Through Porthole on the lower right side of the control.
If too difficult that way, remove the front panel and slide out the computer chassis.

To open the BIOS Menu

To get into the BIOS menu, set the control off, then hold the Del key down and turn the control on. Don't release it until the main BIOS menu appears.

To change anything in the BIOS menu, use the arrow keys to highlight your selection, then press Enter to bring up a submenu where you can make your choice by highlighting it and then pressing Enter.

To set Date and Time:

In the main BIOS menu, highlight "Standard CMOS Features", then press Enter to open CMOS Features screen.

Arrow down to Date and Time and set to current date and time.
Press Esc to return to BIOS Main screen

Load Optimized Defaults

In the main BIOS menu, highlight "Load Optimized Defaults", then press Enter, then "Y". Press Esc to get back to the main BIOS menu.

Advanced BIOS Features menu

In the main BIOS menu, highlight "Advanced BIOS Features", then press Enter to open the the Advanced BIOS Features menu. Here are the settings we use:

Hard Disk Boot Priority:

CH1M: Transcend
USB-HDD: Generic, or whatever brand is plugged in the back of the control. NOTE: If it doesn't show a USB drive, your stick may be bad
Bootable Add-In Cards

First Boot Device: Hard Disk
Second Boot Device: Hard disk
Third Boot Device : doesn't matter
Press Esc to return to Advanced BIOS Features menu

Bootup NumLock Status: Off
Typematic Rate Setting : Enable
Typematic rate: 6
Typematic Delay (Msec): 1000

Save and exit BIOS

Press Esc to return to main BIOS menu
Press F10 to save and exit
Press Enter. CNC will reboot with the factory default settings.
