Copy All Progams From G4 CNC To Thumb Drive

Before you begin, make sure your backup thumb drive in plugged into the control before you turn on the control. If not, set control off, and plug in the backup thumb drive.

To copy all the programs from the CNC to thumb drive:

• Turn the control on: at the "OmniTurn CNC" screen, press and hold the Ctrl key, then press the "C" key (Ctrl-C). The Ctrl key is usually at extreme lower-left corner of keyboard.
• You should see the prompt K:\CNC> Type C: then press Enter.
• You should now see the prompt C:\RUNFILES>. Type CD\PROGRAMS, then press Enter.
• Note that '\' (backslash) is NOT the '/' under the '?' .
• You should now see the C:\PROGRAMS> prompt.
• Type COPY D:\PROGRAMS\*.* then press Enter. All your files will be copied from the CNC to the thumb drive.

For G4 controls less than about 10 years old, any FAT-formatted USB stick with a PROGRAMS folder on it will work for this.

The operating system on the oldest of the G4 controls wouldn't recognize any thumb drive larger than 2GB, which is why the backup thumb drives we use are always 2GB or smaller. This maintains compatibility between new and old controls.

If your control is older than about 2015, you'll have to use a 2GB or smaller stick, or update the operating system on the control.
